Gyeongju, South Korea, October 29 (Xinhua) — President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Jae-myung and visiting U.S. President Donald Trump held a meeting in the South Korean city of Gyeongju on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations.

As indicated in a statement from the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung stated at the meeting that his country intends to increase the defense budget and develop the defense industry in order to strengthen its own defense potential and thereby reduce US defense spending within the framework of the defense alliance.

In addition, Kazakhstan plans to expand investment in the United States and increase imports of American goods to further strengthen the allied relations between the two countries.

D. Trump, in turn, promised that the American side would continue to maintain good relations with the Republic of Korea and work together to resolve the problem of the Korean Peninsula. –0–
