HANGZHOU, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) — China built or reconstructed 75,000 km of rural roads in the first three quarters of 2025, achieving 75.4 percent of the annual target, according to the latest official data.

The data was released at a rural roads event in Quzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, which highlighted the country's progress in rural road construction and strengthening rural infrastructure.

According to the report, the total investment in fixed assets in the rural road sector in the first nine months of this year amounted to more than 275.3 billion yuan (about 38.8 billion US dollars).

As reported by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, the aforementioned event includes tours of villages, industrial bases, and cultural and tourist sites, demonstrating how a high-quality road network stimulates rural development and boosts domestic demand.

By the end of 2024, the total length of China's rural road network reached 4.64 million km.
