BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Finnish President Alexander Stubb exchanged congratulatory messages on Tuesday to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Xi Jinping said Finland is a beautiful "land of a thousand lakes" and one of the first European countries to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement with China.
In the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Chinese-Finnish relations have overcome differences in social systems and ideology and withstood the test of changes in the international situation, and their cooperation in political, economic, trade, humanitarian, cultural and other areas has steadily deepened, he noted.
Xi Jinping noted that A. Stubb made a successful state visit to China last October, during which the two leaders developed a plan for developing a new type of future-oriented Sino-Finnish cooperative partnership and relations.
The Chinese President stated that he attaches great importance to the development of Chinese-Finnish relations and is ready to work with A. Stubb to develop traditional friendship, open up new horizons in bilateral cooperation in all areas, as well as to promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and a beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. –0–
