Prague, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) — Czech President Petr Pavel on Monday officially instructed Andrej Babiš, leader of the ANO (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens) movement, to form a new government.

Coalition negotiations between ANO and the political movements Freedom and Direct Democracy /SPD/ and Motorists for Themselves have been ongoing for about two weeks and are reportedly nearing completion.

A. Babiš wrote on the social media platform X that, acting on the presidential mandate, the coalition partners are currently finalizing the agreement and the government program statement. "As soon as these documents are ready, we will proceed to determining the cabinet composition," he noted, adding that the goal is to form a new government by mid-December.

SPD leader Tomio Okamura also confirmed on social media X that negotiations are progressing smoothly.

After meeting with P. Pavel, A. Babiš stated that a coalition agreement could be signed in the coming days. –0– Oleg
