Beijing, October 28 (Xinhua) — Three hundred Russian schoolchildren and their parents embarked on a six-day "Journey Through China's Ancient Cities" on Sunday evening aboard the first special train, the Y489, according to the Beijing Daily mobile app.
Over the course of six days, the train will make stops in three historical and cultural cities of China: Luoyang (Henan Province), Xi'an (Shaanxi Province), and Danfeng (Shaanxi Province). In Luoyang, Russian guests will visit the Longmenshiku Grottoes and Temples, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In Xi'an, they will visit the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses from the Qin Shi Huang Tomb, known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." There, Russian tourists will have the opportunity to make terracotta figurines themselves to deepen their understanding of the culture of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC). In the ancient town of Danfeng in the south of the province, In Shaanxi, Russian visitors will be able to immerse themselves in folk customs and traditions, learn about the intangible cultural heritage of tie-dye, and participate in other events that blend tradition and modernity.
