Astana, October 28 (Xinhua) — Finnish President Alexander Stubb is on an official visit to Kazakhstan from October 28 to 29. During talks held in Astana on Tuesday, the two sides signed 15 cooperation documents and issued a joint statement, Kazinform news agency reported, citing the press service of the Kazakh presidential administration.
It is noted that the joint statement reflects the parties' shared positions on key issues on the international agenda and provides for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, digitalization, sustainable development, and peacekeeping. The signed documents cover a wide range of areas, from energy and the environment to tourism, education, and scientific research.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Finland is a key partner for Kazakhstan in Northern Europe and the European Union. According to him, in 2024, Finland's direct investment in Kazakhstan's economy increased by more than 80 percent, reaching almost $500 million.
