Kabul, October 28 (Xinhua) – Afghanistan exported fresh pomegranates to Russia for the first time through the port of Torghundi in the western province of Herat, Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced on Monday.
“This process will create a significant market for fruits, especially pomegranates, thereby contributing to the further development of the country's export sector,” Z. Mujahid wrote on X's social media.
Afghanistan primarily exports fresh and dried fruits to Pakistan. However, recent border tensions between the two countries have disrupted this trade flow.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan has significantly increased its exports to Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. –0–
