BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) — A new round of China-US economic and trade talks that concluded Sunday in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur once again demonstrated that dialogue and cooperation remain the right path for both countries.

During the talks, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during telephone conversations since the beginning of this year, the two sides had a frank, in-depth and constructive exchange of views on important trade and economic issues of mutual interest, including the US measures under Section 301 of the Trade Act with respect to China's maritime, logistics and shipbuilding sectors, the extension of the suspension of mutual tariffs, cooperation on fentanyl-related tariffs and enforcement, agricultural trade and export controls.

Both sides agreed to work out specific details and go through internal approval procedures in each country.

Head-of-state diplomacy plays an indispensable strategic role in managing relations between China and the United States. In recent months, guided by the important consensus reached between the two leaders, trade and economic teams from both sides have held several rounds of consultations and reached positive agreements.

These agreements reflect the spirit of equality, respect and mutual benefit and help guide the trade and economic relations between China and the United States towards healthy, stable and sustainable development.

This fully demonstrates that, in order to ensure that the two giant ships of China and the United States sail forward together without deviating from course or losing speed, it is crucial to unswervingly adhere to the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries and fully implement the important consensus reached by them.

The essence of trade and economic relations between China and the United States is mutual benefit and win-win. When both sides cooperate, they both benefit; when they oppose each other, they both lose. China and the United States have extensive common interests and ample room for cooperation; they have established a complementary and mutually beneficial model in trade and economic relations.

As the world's two largest economies, China and the United States engage in trade and economic exchanges characterized by vast scale, rich content, broad scope, and diversity of stakeholders. Disagreements naturally arise. When disagreements and frictions arise, both sides should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation and seek appropriate solutions to address each other's concerns through equal dialogue and consultation.

Maintaining stable development of trade and economic relations between the two countries serves the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples, as well as the expectations of the international community.

Tariff and trade wars serve no one's interests. China has always responsibly adhered to the fundamental principle of resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation and has held numerous rounds of negotiations with the US to stabilize bilateral trade and economic relations.

During this round of talks, both sides agreed, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, to make full use of the mechanism of China-US trade and economic consultations, maintain close communication on relevant concerns in the trade and economic field, and promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of bilateral trade and economic relations, so as to benefit the peoples of the two countries and promote global prosperity.

China and the United States are fully capable of achieving mutual success and shared prosperity, which will benefit both countries and the entire world. The progress achieved in the negotiations was not easy and must be jointly protected.

The two sides expressed hope that the United States and China will move toward each other to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and the results of trade and economic negotiations, continue to strengthen mutual trust, resolve differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and take bilateral trade and economic relations to new heights.
