Nanjing, October 27 (Xinhua) — A Central Asian Authors' Publishing Center was established on Monday in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province. The ceremony was attended by approximately 100 publishing industry representatives, scholars, and students from China, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries.
The new center aims to foster the "China-Central Asia" spirit and promote pragmatic cooperation between China and Central Asian countries in culture and publishing through translation. At the same time, it aims to pool the resources of universities, cultural institutions, and businesses to enhance regional exchanges and cooperation.
At the aforementioned center's founding ceremony, the Nanjing Publishing and Media Group signed a publishing rights agreement with Kyrgyz experts. This time, it received the rights to publish five literary works from Kyrgyzstan included in the Asian Classics Translation Program, as well as the rights to publish two Chinese works abroad.
Xiang Xiaoning, Party Secretary of the Nanjing Publishing and Media Group, said that publishing, as an important medium for cultural communication, has a vital mission in promoting mutual understanding between different countries and ethnic groups. "We are ready to provide readers in Central Asia and other regions with more outstanding works of Chinese literature. At the same time, we will also actively introduce Chinese readers to masterpieces from Central Asian countries that reflect the spirit of the times and contribute to the inheritance of national wisdom," he noted.
