Singapore, October 26 (Xinhua) — China is ready to work with Singapore and other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to build a successful free trade area (FTZ) 3.0 and jointly achieve greater development. Chinese Premier Li Qiang made this statement on Sunday during a meeting with Acting President of Singapore Eddie Teo during his official visit to the country.
Li Qiang said that China is willing to promote close communication and coordination with Singapore within multilateral mechanisms, work together to uphold multilateralism and free trade, promote the building of an equal and orderly multipolar world, and promote win-win and inclusive economic globalization.
Noting that the world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation with intertwined global challenges, Li Qiang said that China and Singapore, as friendly neighbors and important partners, should strengthen unity and cooperation. Looking to the future, China stands ready to strengthen high-level exchanges and strategic ties with Singapore, support each other's core interests and key concerns, deepen political trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the sustainable and stable development of China-Singapore relations, for the benefit of the two countries, the region, and the world, he said.
Li Qiang noted that the recent Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC Central Committee) reviewed and adopted recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan, providing important opportunities for future cooperation between China and Singapore. He stated that China is willing to work with Singapore to unlock the potential of trade and economic cooperation and expand collaboration in emerging areas such as the digital economy, green development, and artificial intelligence, further boosting the modernization of both countries.
Li Qiang invited more Singaporean enterprises to continue to explore China's vast market and share the vast development opportunities, adding that the two sides should expand exchanges of development experience and deepen people-to-people and cultural cooperation.
In turn, E. Teo noted that China and Singapore have a long history of exchanges and close ties. He noted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and bilateral relations are developing very dynamically.
Singapore congratulates China on the successful holding of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, Teo said, expressing hope that China's 15th Five-Year Plan will benefit the region and the world.
Singapore is ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with China, intensify cooperation in various fields such as economics, trade and people-to-people exchanges, deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between ASEAN and China, advance WTO reform and build an open world economy, he concluded.
