GUANGZHOU, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) — The second phase of the 138th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair or Guangzhou Fair, opened Thursday in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, focusing on quality household goods.

According to organizers, the first two stages of the event attracted more than 157,000 buyers from 222 countries and regions.

More than 10,000 businesses are participating in the second stage of the fair, displaying products such as household items, gifts, jewelry, building materials, and furniture.

Overseas buyers have noted that China's production and supply chains are indispensable and bring stability to the global economy and trade.

A Canadian buyer noted China's advanced robotics and automation, while a Georgian buyer, participating in the Guangzhou Fair for the 20th time, emphasized the importance of face-to-face exchanges with customers.

The second phase of the fair is attended by 145 of the world's leading retailers, including Target and Kingfisher, demonstrating the firm confidence of foreign partners in China's role as a global hub for manufacturing.
