Bishkek, October 22 (Xinhua) — Six people were killed in a fire in a residential building in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh, the country's Emergency Situations Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to her, the fire broke out at approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday local time in the basement of a residential building and quickly spread to the roof.
"Rescuers who arrived at the scene found the bodies of the deceased in a charred state. Six people died in the fire: a 34-year-old woman and her five children, aged 13, 11, 9, 6, and 2," the statement read.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire covered approximately 280 square meters. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire was caused by an electric heater used in the house.
