Moscow, October 20 (Xinhua) — Russian diplomats are conducting "very deep and truly serious" work to prepare for the meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Budapest. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova in an interview with TASS.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesperson added that Moscow needs a fundamental resolution to the Ukrainian crisis and guarantees of peace. "We discussed the root causes of the conflict not to prolong it, but precisely so that this resolution would be fundamental, long-term, and guarantee peace," concluded M. Zakharova.
