Islamabad/Kabul, October 19 (Xinhua) — Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached a ceasefire agreement, agreeing to immediately cease mutual attacks on the border and respect each other's territory. Officials from both sides confirmed the agreement on Sunday.

Under the agreement, attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan "will cease immediately," Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on social media on Sunday.

According to him, the delegations of the parties will meet again in Istanbul, Turkey, on October 25 to discuss detailed mechanisms for implementing the agreement and strengthening security cooperation.

Afghan interim government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement the same day that Afghanistan and Pakistan had signed a bilateral agreement, reaching a comprehensive and meaningful ceasefire following talks held in the Qatari capital, Doha. –0–
