Every year, Road Workers' Day is celebrated in Russia on the third Sunday of October. Thousands of people are currently employed in this sector. These specialists participate in the planning, design, construction, repair, and operation of highways and their associated structures. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

"Russia's road industry is making steady progress: our roads are becoming safer, more comfortable, and more modern. However, much remains to be done. As part of the "Infrastructure for Life" national project, we are undertaking large-scale road renovation and construction across the country. President Vladimir Putin is paying close attention to these issues. Ahead of the holiday, he launched three major road projects. "Thanks in large part to systematic and coordinated work, we are 29% ahead of last year in the road sector. These achievements would not have been possible without the professionalism, dedication, and commitment of thousands of road workers—people who daily lay the foundation for regional development and connect the entire country into a unified transportation network. Today, the road sector unites over 10,000 organizations and approximately 750,000 specialists. Overall, we plan to build and repair approximately 28,000 km of roads by the end of the year. I am confident that a strong team of like-minded individuals is capable of tackling the most complex challenges and achieving ambitious goals," said Marat Khusnullin.

To successfully develop the country's road infrastructure, qualified specialists are essential, so special attention is being paid to improving the qualifications of road construction workers.

"The effective operation and development of the road sector requires a high level of professionalism from those involved in this sector. Therefore, increased attention is being paid to continuing education and retraining. As of early October of this year, 3,100 road sector employees have completed continuing professional education programs. Gaining new competencies will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their performance," noted Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin.

This year, the professional holiday – Road Workers Day – is celebrated in our country for the 25th time.

"This year could be called a milestone. A quarter of a century ago, Decree No. 556 of the President of the Russian Federation established our professional holiday – Road Workers' Day, celebrated on the third Sunday in October. Previously, before 2000, it was called Automobile Transport and Road Workers' Day, and the fact that road workers now have their own holiday demonstrates the recognition of our work at the highest level. We are proud that many road workers come from working families, and that our companies carefully preserve the tradition of continuity, which allows us to maintain a high level of skill within the team. At the same time, we are mastering and implementing modern technologies, and applying innovative solutions. A close-knit team of professionals is capable of overcoming any challenges and successfully achieving the tasks set, the most important of which is improving the quality of life for Russians," noted Roman Novikov, Head of the Federal Road Agency.
