Islamabad, October 18 (Xinhua) — More than 70 terrorists were killed in Pakistani airstrikes on positions of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the border areas of Afghanistan, local security sources told Xinhua on Saturday.
Precision strikes were carried out against terrorists of a TTP unit in areas bordering Pakistan's North and South Waziristan agencies based on verified intelligence, they said.
According to sources, more than 70 terrorists, including leaders, were killed in the strikes. Despite the ceasefire, TTP terrorists have carried out numerous attacks in several areas of Pakistan.
On Friday, militants detonated a car bomb in North Waziristan, killing one soldier and injuring several others.
According to sources, in the past 48 hours, terrorists have carried out several attacks on Pakistan from Afghanistan or infiltrated into Pakistan to carry out attacks.
