Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak took part in the events of the Youth Day of Russian Energy Week.
The Deputy Prime Minister captained the "What? Where? When?" team of experts, which included Kirill Dmitriev, Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF); Alexandra Panina, Member of the Management Board of PJSC Inter RAO and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Energy Producers Council Association; Vladimir Rashevsky, Member of the Management Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; Maria Volman, winner of the "Leaders of Russia" competition in the "Science" track; and Anastasia Chegodaeva, winner of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship.
The team demonstrated a broad outlook, ability to debate and think outside the box, and ultimately achieved a decisive victory.
Following the game, Alexander Novak awarded the winners of industry competitions: the IT Championship of the Oil Industry – a team competition to promote digital skills in industry; the International Engineering Championship CASE-IN of the League of Young Specialists; and the All-Russian Competition of Graduation Theses and Diploma Research "Generation of the Future." Also, for the first time, the REW awarded the best employers in the fuel, energy, and industrial sectors.
"Thank you for participating in Russian Energy Week. I am confident that the future belongs to young people: those who are just starting out in schools and universities, or who are already young professionals. We have a vast country, the world's largest energy system, and the most modern technologies. And you will be the ones to drive the country's energy sector forward," said Alexander Novak.
As part of Youth Day, the Deputy Prime Minister met with members of the "REN.Junior" section—an association of talented young students and specialists ready to contribute to addressing the country's economic and energy challenges. Alexander Novak answered questions about the current state and prospects of the global energy system, the technological development of Russia's fuel and energy sector, and the introduction of alternative energy sources.
"Today, we stand on the threshold of a new approach to energy. An energy transition toward cleaner energy sources is underway, as is the industry's comprehensive digitalization. Management systems are undergoing a qualitative transformation at all stages: from geological exploration to the direct use of resources. All of this allows for increased efficiency across the energy sector. In the future, the Russian energy sector will transform into a unified digital platform, which will enhance its efficiency and elevate it to a whole new level," noted Alexander Novak.
