Vladivostok, October 17 (Xinhua) – Cosmonauts of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) Sergei Ryzhikov and Alexei Zubritsky successfully completed the first spacewalk in 2025 on October 16-17 and returned to the station.

According to Roscosmos, all planned tasks were completed in full, and the operation proceeded as planned.

The cosmonauts' work outside the ISS lasted 6 hours and 11 minutes. During this time, the cosmonauts completed their primary task: installing the Ekran-M equipment on the Multifunctional Laboratory Module (MLM) "Nauka" for an experiment on growing semiconductors in outer space. They also performed maintenance on the station's external equipment and prepared several areas for upcoming scientific and repair operations.

Earlier, S. Ryzhikov announced that he and A. Zubritsky would be conducting two spacewalks in October. The next spacewalk is scheduled for approximately two weeks, but the exact date was not announced.
