Ulaanbaatar, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — Mongolia's State Great Khural (parliament) on Friday adopted a resolution to remove Prime Minister Gombojavyn Zandanshatar from office.

The draft resolution was approved by 64 percent of the vote in the 126-seat parliament.

Following the vote, G. Zandanshatar was removed from his post. However, he was instructed to continue serving as head of government until a new prime minister is elected.

On October 10, more than 50 members of parliament reportedly introduced a motion to remove G. Zandanshatar from office, citing constitutional violations and concerns about public administration. The scandal centered on the recent appointment of a new Minister of Justice and Interior.

On June 13, G. Zandanshatar received the post of prime minister at the proposal of the ruling Mongolian People's Party. –0–
