ANTANANARIVO, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — Madagascar army Colonel Michael Randrianirina was sworn in as the country's president here on Friday.
“Before God, the nation and the people, I solemnly swear to faithfully fulfill my duties as Head of State of Madagascar,” he declared before the country’s Supreme Constitutional Court.
On Tuesday, M. Randrianirina announced the seizure of state power in Madagascar, noting that the decision was made after “observing non-compliance with the Constitution and the violation of human rights.” –0–
