BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — Southwest China's trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) grew 11.8 percent year-on-year to 264.08 billion yuan (about 37.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of 2025, the news portal chinanews.com.cn reported on Friday.
According to Chongqing Customs data, Chongqing's foreign trade turnover from January to September was 581.98 billion yuan, up 12.3 percent year-on-year.
During this period, ASEAN was Chongqing's largest trading partner, with trade turnover between the two reaching 99.76 billion yuan, an increase of 24.2 percent. Furthermore, the city's trade volumes with Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia increased by 17.5 percent, 38 percent, and 76 percent, respectively.
In the first three quarters, Chongqing exported electromechanical products worth 360.82 billion yuan, up 9.8 percent year-on-year and accounting for 90 percent of Chongqing's total exports. Laptop exports reached 113.28 billion yuan, maintaining Chongqing's leading position in this category in China.
From January to September, Chongqing's automobile exports totaled 33.73 billion yuan, up 6.4 percent year-on-year. In particular, electric vehicle exports reached 9.79 billion yuan, up 69.1 percent. The city exported mobile phones and motorcycles worth 43.73 billion yuan and 19.86 billion yuan, respectively, up 44.3 percent and 37.9 percent year-on-year. -0-
