Beijing, October 17 (Xinhua) — From September 15 to October 14, the month following the introduction of a visa-free regime for Russian citizens, the number of Russian citizens arriving in Heilongjiang Province (northeast China) totaled 46,000, a 28.4 percent increase year-on-year. Specifically, the number of visa-free entries by Russian citizens exceeded 43,000, the Heilongjiang Daily reported on Friday.
As a reminder, China introduced a trial visa-free regime for Russian citizens holding regular passports from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2026. Russian citizens holding valid passports can visit China under the visa-free regime for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchanging visits, and transit purposes. Their stay in China should not exceed 30 days.
According to statistics from the main border crossing point in Heilongjiang Province, from September 15 to October 14 of this year, Russian citizens entered Heilongjiang Province, which borders Russia, visa-free through nine checkpoints in the province, including Heihe, Suifenhe, Dongning, Harbin, Mishan, Raohe, Luobei, Tongjiang, and Fuyuan. More than 20,000 Russian citizens entered Heilongjiang visa-free through the Heihe checkpoint, accounting for 48.6 percent of the total number of Russian citizens entering Heilongjiang visa-free.
Due to the significant increase in passenger traffic, the Heihe Border Checkpoint, in a timely manner monitoring changes in passenger traffic, has introduced additional passages to reduce the time for customs clearance of passengers during peak hours. -0-
