XI'AN, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — The 11th International Silk Road Arts Festival opened Thursday in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. Representatives from more than 80 countries and regions are participating in the 25-day event.

The festival consists of four parts, including the opening and closing ceremonies, performances as part of the performing arts demonstration, the international art exhibition “Silk Road Today”, and international cultural exchanges.

The festival program will include a total of 46 performances, which will take place primarily in universities, neighborhoods, and shopping centers in order to make art more accessible.

The first Silk Road International Arts Festival was held in 2014. Since then, it has attracted participants from more than 120 countries and regions. To date, it has showcased over 4,500 works of art and organized over 300 performances featuring nearly 7,200 artists, strengthening cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world.
