Baku, October 17 /Xinhua/ — Azerbaijan plans to commission ten new solar and wind power plants within the next two years, Report news agency reported, citing the Ministry of Finance's medium-term budget framework for 2026-2029.

The total cost of the projects is approximately $2.7 billion. They are being implemented with the support of international financial institutions. The share of renewable energy in total electricity generation is expected to reach 33.7 percent by 2027 and 38 percent by 2030.

The document also predicts that by 2035, renewable energy will account for 42.5 percent of the country's installed power capacity. Currently, the largest share of renewable energy is generated by hydroelectric power plants.

Since 2024, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), has been implementing monitoring, reporting, and verification systems to track the country's climate activities in accordance with international standards. –0–
