Bishkek, October 16 (Xinhua) — China has made tremendous progress in its own development over the past five years. This has become an important factor in global stability and progress, former Kyrgyz Ambassador to China Kanaiym Baktygulova said in an interview with Xinhua.

This year marks the final year of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). K. Baktygulova noted that during this period, the country has achieved impressive progress both domestically and internationally.

Among the development achievements China has achieved over the past five years, the former ambassador particularly noted the launch of the Hualong-1 nuclear reactor—a symbol of China's leadership in nuclear energy—the accelerated expansion of renewable energy production capacity, the expansion of 5G network deployment, the introduction of medical robotic systems, and more.

"China has demonstrated a confident combination of economic growth, technological breakthroughs, and environmental responsibility. The country has not only maintained sustainable momentum amid global upheavals but also strengthened its leadership in renewable energy, science, and social protection," she said.

According to K. Baktygulova, over the past five years, despite global instability caused by unilateralism, protectionism, and geopolitical crises, China's economy has continued to play a major role in maintaining global economic stability.

"China's economic achievements have had and continue to have a significant impact on the global order, contributing to global economic growth, technological innovation, and sustainable development. The country continues to play a key role in shaping the future of the global economy and international relations," emphasized K. Baktygulova.

In addition, she said, China has made great efforts to develop large-scale manufacturing, expand global supply chains, strengthen climate cooperation, and build infrastructure and transit corridors, which has contributed to the development of countries in various regions of the world and provided sustainable growth models for many developing countries.

The former ambassador emphasized that, alongside its own development, China actively supports developing countries both within multilateral platforms such as BRICS, the SCO, and APEC, as well as through bilateral mechanisms with countries in Africa, ASEAN, Latin America, and Central Asia. "These efforts are aimed at promoting joint development and strengthening the position of countries in the Global South in global governance," she emphasized.

Next year will be the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). According to K. Baktygulova, during this period, China will become a country that successfully combines economic strength, social well-being, and responsible international leadership.

"China will strive to improve economic resilience, including diversifying its trading partners and reducing its dependence on imported critical materials. This could include developing domestic manufacturing and strengthening domestic capabilities in key technologies," she believes.

K. Baktygulova noted that China will also strengthen its role in scientific and technological innovation by turning it into a driving force for the development of new-quality productive forces and the construction of a modernized industrial system.

“I believe that China will strengthen its position as one of the world’s centers of high-tech manufacturing and the digital economy,” she asserted, adding that China will continue to develop a “green” economy and will achieve success in further reducing the carbon intensity of industry, accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources, developing “smart cities” and green transport.

K. Baktygulova also expects China to make significant strides in the social and scientific spheres. "The country's standard of living will continue to rise, and its education and healthcare systems will improve," she noted. "China will achieve new achievements in space exploration, biotechnology, and medicine."

Furthermore, the former ambassador believes that China will assume a more significant status in international affairs. The country will deepen its participation in shaping a just, multipolar world, advance the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote deeper regional integration.

“Personally, during this period, I hope to see China as a dynamically developing power that will strengthen its technological sovereignty, demonstrate sustainable, high-quality economic development with an emphasis on innovation, ecology, and social balance, and play a more key role in the international arena,” she concluded. –0–
