BEIJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) — The 3rd Shaanxi Congress of Chinese Traditional Martial Arts (Wushu) Masters concluded on Wednesday at the Sports Hall of the Huayin City Culture and Sports Center in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. More than 1,700 wushu enthusiasts from various countries and regions, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Brunei, participated in the five-day event, according to chinanews.com.cn.

This event is the largest and most significant public wushu competition in Shaanxi Province. In addition to demonstrations of martial arts routines, both with and without weapons, this year's congress featured a "wushu carnival," during which masters of this martial art from Russia and Kazakhstan not only performed on stage with their Chinese counterparts but also had the opportunity to sample Shaanxi cuisine and watch performances dedicated to intangible cultural heritage. The carnival helped the international participants deepen their understanding of Shaanxi's cultural traditions.

The current congress attracted wushu enthusiasts from all age groups, which fully demonstrates its role in popularizing and spreading wushu.

The organizers of the congress stated that the event played a role in connecting tradition and modernity, as well as strengthening China's interaction with the outside world, and its successful holding not only demonstrated Shaanxi Province's achievements in the development of wushu, but also became a concrete practice for promoting magnificent traditional Chinese culture. -0-
