TAIYUAN, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) — Eighteen officials, former political figures, and youth representatives from nine Eastern and Southern European countries, namely Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia, recently completed a tour of North China's Shanxi Province.

During the visit, the delegation visited the cities of Datong, Jinzhong, and Taiyuan, where they learned about the province's achievements in rural development, as well as the development of new-quality productive forces, advanced manufacturing, green industry, and cultural industries.

While visiting the Yungangshiku Grottoes and Temples and the Xuankun Temple in Datong, Slovenian journalist Jan Vajgl developed a keen interest in Chinese culture. He said he was struck by the ancient architecture, but what truly fascinated him was the fusion of modern cultural heritage preservation technologies with the crystallization of ancient civilization.

At the Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd. exhibition center in Taiyuan, visitors were deeply impressed by the latest technology and cutting-edge equipment on display, including an intelligent forklift and a smart mine car. "The pace of China's scientific, technological, and industrial development is astonishing and exceeds all expectations," said Kadir Ismaili, a youth representative from North Macedonia and a graduate student at Yunnan University in southwest China, speaking in Chinese. -0-
