New Delhi, October 15 (Xinhua) — At least 20 people were killed on Tuesday when a passenger bus caught fire in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, officials said.
A private bus carrying 57 passengers suddenly caught fire while moving in Jaisalmer district, about 548 km west of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan state.
According to officials, smoke initially appeared in the rear of the vehicle. The driver stopped the bus, but the flames quickly spread throughout the cabin, trapping passengers. The condition of some of the injured is considered critical.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. However, police suspect it may have been a short circuit. –0–
