Yerevan, October 15 (Xinhua) — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met on Tuesday with the current Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, who is in the country on a working visit, his press service reported.
N. Pashinyan emphasized the importance of effective cooperation with the OSCE, noting that active dialogue between Armenia and the organization has been established over the past years. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the OSCE's role in ensuring security and stability in its area of responsibility.
E. Valtonen, congratulating N. Pashinyan on the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressed confidence that this will contribute to building a stable future for Armenia and developing cooperation in the region.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the continuation of border demarcation work, and regional processes.
An exchange of views on the development of relations between Yerevan and the European Union also took place. N. Pashinyan emphasized that the implementation of European standards in various areas is a priority for the Armenian government.
Prospects for further development of relations between Armenia and Finland were also discussed, particularly opportunities for promoting business ties and attracting investment. The parties emphasized the need to organize high-level reciprocal visits.
Earlier that day, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held talks with Eduard Valtonen to discuss the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. Mirzoyan announced the initiation of the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, which has been working on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict since 1994. Eduard Valtonen stated that the OSCE welcomes this step.
