BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) — China's producer price index (PPI), a measure of wholesale prices of goods produced by manufacturers, fell 2.3 percent year-on-year in September, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Wednesday.

The rate of decline in the indicator slowed by 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month, indicating an improvement in industrial demand amid the government's efforts to stimulate economic growth.

According to the agency, the PPI remained stable in September on a monthly basis after contracting by 2.9 percent year-on-year in August.

According to the results of the first nine months of this year, the PPI decreased by 2.8 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

Data released Wednesday also showed that China's consumer price index (CPI), a key measure of inflation, fell 0.3 percent year-on-year in September. -0-
