Gaza, October 15 (Xinhua) — Israel, through the International Committee of the Red Cross, has handed over the bodies of 45 Palestinians to the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian enclave's health authority announced this on Wednesday.
The department's statement indicated that the transfer brings the total number of bodies returned this week to 90. The bodies of another 45 victims were handed over on October 14.
The handover of the bodies took place just days after the ceasefire agreement, reached after intensive negotiations brokered by Egypt, came into effect on October 10. The agreement also provides for a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops, a hostage-for-prisoner exchange, and the opening of border crossings to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
