Hangzhou, October 15 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albarez, in Hangzhou, eastern China's Zhejiang Province, on Wednesday. The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in economic, educational, cultural, tourism, and other areas.

China and Spain should view bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective, developing an increasingly strategically stable and dynamic comprehensive strategic partnership, Wang Yi said.

Noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain, Wang Yi said China is willing to work with Spain to properly prepare for the upcoming high-level contacts.

China welcomes Spanish companies to seize the opportunities offered by China's vast market and continue to invest in China and deepen their involvement, Wang Yi said, adding that the two sides can also enhance cooperation and exchanges in education, culture and tourism.

China is willing to extend the visa-free policy for Spain and welcomes more Spanish friends to visit China, the Chinese Foreign Minister said.

Underscoring Spain's commitment to deepening its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, José Manuel Albarez announced that King Felipe VI of Spain will pay a state visit to China, using this opportunity to further expand cooperation and exchanges in the fields of trade, investment, culture, education and tourism.

Spain is ready to work with China to uphold multilateralism, support the international trade order and rules, and contribute to promoting world peace and responding to global challenges, said José Manuel Albarez.

Dialogue and cooperation are in the interests of the European Union and China, and Spain is ready to play a constructive role in this regard, he added.

The two sides also held an in-depth exchange of views on international and regional issues of mutual interest, including the Ukrainian crisis and the settlement in the Middle East. -0-
