Minsk, October 15 (Xinhua) — Pharmaceutical production in Belarus amounted to 2.5 billion Belarusian rubles in 2024 and will exceed 3 billion Belarusian rubles in 2026, Deputy Health Minister Alexander Starovoitov announced on Tuesday. The corresponding information was published by BelTA on the same day.
"By the end of 2024, annual pharmaceutical production in Belarus amounted to almost 2.5 billion Belarusian rubles. We plan to further increase our production of medicinal products," noted A. Starovoitov, adding that they plan to exceed 3 billion Belarusian rubles by 2026.
According to the Belarusian Ministry of Health, over the past five years, more than 390 types of in-demand medications have been developed and introduced into the country.
The pharmaceutical industry of Belarus is represented by 40 enterprises, both state-owned and privately owned.
Belarusian pharmaceutical exports totaled $206 million in 2024. This figure is expected to be exceeded in 2025. Sales of these products are being negotiated with 30 countries worldwide. Efforts are also underway to develop new pharmaceutical markets.
To further develop the pharmaceutical industry, a list of 17 investment projects has been compiled for implementation over the next five years, with the total planned investment volume amounting to approximately 1 billion Belarusian rubles. –0–
