URUMQI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) — Over 100,000 trains on international freight routes between China and Europe/Central Asia have passed through the Alashankou and Horgos railway checkpoints in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR), according to Urumqi Customs.

The Alashankou checkpoint, also known as the Alatau Pass, now serves 127 international China-Europe rail freight routes, while Khorgos serves 89 such routes. These routes connect China with 21 countries, including Germany, Poland, and Hungary.

The Alashankou and Khorgos checkpoints, located on the border with Kazakhstan, are transport corridors connecting China with Central Asia and Europe. The launch of China-Europe rail freight services in 2011 transformed the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region into a springboard for the country's expansion into the outside world.

Freight trains running between China and Europe carry computers and mobile phones, new energy vehicles, industrial equipment, grain crops, and petroleum products. The range of goods transported includes more than 200 types. -0-
