The "Years of War" fountain complex on Poklonnaya Gora has begun preparations for winter. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Public Works. Petr Biryukov.
"City services specialists have begun preparing the 'Years of War' fountain complex on Poklonnaya Gora for winter. It is one of the largest fountains in the capital. It was opened in 1995 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War. First, the structure will be thoroughly cleaned using brushes, high-pressure cleaners, and a special solution. This process will take five days and will involve five teams and the same number of street cleaners. Once the cleaning is complete, we will begin conservation work on the fountain, which includes removing the nozzles and underwater lights, installing plugs and protective elements in the bowls," said Pyotr Biryukov.
The "Years of War" fountain complex is located on the main avenue of Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill. It consists of five identical rectangular bowls made of dark red granite. Each contains 45 vertical jets of water. There are 225 of them in total—the number of weeks the Great Patriotic War lasted.
