BEIJING, October 14 (Xinhua) — China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sector maintained strong production and sales growth in the first nine months of 2025, according to data released Tuesday by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

According to CAAM, NEV production in the first three quarters increased by 35.2 percent year-on-year, reaching 11.24 million units.

According to the association, sales during the period increased by 34.9 percent to nearly 11.23 million units, accounting for 46.1 percent of the total number of vehicles sold in China.

According to data, the Chinese auto industry has generally maintained positive momentum recently thanks to trade-in programs, active regional auto shows, and intensive new product launches.

Total vehicle production during the reporting period reached 24.33 million units, up 13.3 percent year-on-year, while sales increased 12.9 percent to 24.36 million units.

Data released Tuesday also showed that China's auto exports maintained their robust growth momentum, increasing 14.8 percent year-on-year. Notably, NEV exports grew 89.4 percent year-on-year to 1.76 million units. –0–
