Kyiv, October 14 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in Kyiv on Monday. The Ukrainian leader's press service reported this.
During the talks, the parties discussed recent Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the steps needed to strengthen the country's energy resilience.
K. Kallas noted that European experts are currently assessing the amount of assistance needed to restore the Ukrainian energy system.
The meeting also discussed issues of defense support for Ukraine, the use of frozen Russian assets, and the preparation of the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia.
Particular attention was paid to Ukraine's progress toward EU membership. V. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine will be technically ready for all six negotiating clusters by early November.
During a press conference following talks with K. Kallas, V. Zelenskyy announced that he plans to meet with US President Donald Trump on October 17 in Washington.
He clarified that the meeting would be primarily devoted to strengthening Ukraine's air defense, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported. –0–
