Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, October 13 (Xinhua) — The Gaza War Ending Summit opened Monday in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The event included the signing of the recently reached ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas.
The summit, attended by leaders of more than 20 countries, as well as regional and international organizations, is being co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and US President Donald Trump.
According to a statement from the Egyptian President's Office, the summit will discuss ending the war in the Gaza Strip, intensifying efforts to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East, and ushering in a new era of security and stability in the region.
A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10 after three days of intensive negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh between the two sides, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the United States. –0–
