BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday announced a series of measures to support the development of global women's affairs at the Global Women's Summit.
China will donate an additional US$10 million to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) over the next five years, Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony of the summit in Beijing.
Meanwhile, he said China will allocate US$100 million from the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund to implement cooperation programs to promote the development of women and girls, in collaboration with international organizations.
Xi Jinping added that China will support 1,000 small-scale but effective projects to improve people's livelihoods, with women and girls as priority beneficiaries, and will invite 50,000 women to China for exchanges and training.
He said China will also establish a center dedicated to promoting women's capacity building worldwide, through which China will cooperate with relevant countries and international organizations to cultivate more outstanding female talent.
