Moscow, October 13 (Xinhua) — Russia increased oil production by 148,000 barrels per day (bpd) in September 2025 to 9.321 million bpd, though the volume was 94,000 bpd below plan, taking into account voluntary cuts. This was reported on Monday by TASS, citing a report from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

According to the document, Russia was supposed to produce 9.415 million bpd in September, including compensation for overproduction in previous periods and voluntary restrictions. Actual production in August was also 86,000 bpd below the agreed-upon level.

Currently, oil production in Russia is regulated by the OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) agreement. From the beginning of 2024 to March 2025, Russia's base quota, including voluntary restrictions, was 8.978 million bpd, excluding compensation for excess production.

Since April 2025, Russia has begun a gradual increase in production in accordance with the OPEC plan. Initially, the production recovery was scheduled to last until September 2026, but amid favorable oil market conditions, the pace of production growth has accelerated.

As Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated earlier, in September Russia produced oil close to the established OPEC quota. –0–
