Beijing, October 13 (Xinhua) — China will lower retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel starting October 14 to reflect recent changes in global oil prices, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on Monday.

The price of gasoline will reportedly be cut by 75 yuan (about $10.56) per ton, while the price of diesel will be reduced by 70 yuan per ton.

China's three major oil corporations, including China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, as well as other oil refineries, have been instructed to properly organize the production and transportation of petroleum products to ensure stable supplies.

Under China's pricing mechanism, petroleum product prices are adjusted in response to fluctuations in global crude oil prices.

The committee also called on relevant local departments to strengthen market supervision and inspection, take strict measures to combat activities that violate state pricing policies, and maintain market order.
