The village of Yanchan is nestled among the mountains in Shexian County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. Built on a slope, it is known for its adobe houses, or tulou, built in a continuous row. Currently, over 300 of these structures are well-preserved. In 2013, Yanchan was included in the second list of traditional Chinese villages.

During the autumn harvest, villagers take advantage of the clear days to dry peppers, corn, walnuts and other crops in front of their houses and yards, creating a unique autumnal "harvest drying" scene.

In the village of Yanchang, land is scarce and mountains are numerous. In the past, many local residents migrated elsewhere for work. In recent years, local authorities, using the village's unique adobe houses and the autumn tradition of "drying the harvest," have been actively developing rural tourism. Villagers now work as guides, open guesthouses, and rural restaurants, earning a living from tourism.

In 2024, Yanchang Village welcomed 215,600 tourists, and the average annual per capita income exceeded 26,000 yuan. The once-abandoned village has now become an internet star. Photo by Xinhua News Agency correspondent Huang Bohan.
