Jerusalem, October 13 (Xinhua) — All surviving hostages held by Hamas in Gaza are now in Israel, which has begun releasing Palestinian prisoners, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday.

According to the statement, the final group of 13 hostages has crossed the border and is in Israeli territory. Earlier in the day, the first group of seven hostages returned to Israel after more than two years of captivity in the Gaza Strip.

As part of the exchange, Israel began releasing approximately 2,000 Palestinian detainees, IDF Radio reported.
