Pyongyang, October 9 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, arrived in the DPRK on Thursday on an official goodwill visit. He will also attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).
Li Qiang will visit the DPRK at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the country's government.
Upon arrival, he declared that China and the DPRK are socialist neighbors, linked by shared mountains and rivers, as well as a deep, traditional friendship.
In recent years, thanks to the strategic leadership and personal efforts of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and General Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Un, relations between China and the DPRK have gained new vitality, Li Qiang noted.
He recalled that in September, Kim Jong-un visited China to participate in events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un held another successful meeting and reached a number of important consensuses, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations.
Li Qiang noted that China is willing to work with the DPRK to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders, strengthen strategic ties, maintain close exchanges and promote friendly cooperation between the two countries, so as to make greater contributions to peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world at large.
