Moscow, October 9 (Xinhua) – Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on Thursday, according to a statement published on the Kremlin website.

During the meeting, Vladimir Putin noted that Russian-Tajik relations are developing very positively in all areas.

"Trade and economic ties are developing at a good pace. Last year, our trade turnover grew by over seven percent, and in the first seven months of this year, it's over 17 percent. This is a good trend, and we must certainly maintain it," the Russian president said.

According to Vladimir Putin, the two sides are constantly working on security and defense. "We are reliable allies. And Russia values and will certainly fulfill all our obligations as an ally," Putin said.

The Russian leader also promised that Russia is ready to work with Tajikistan to create conditions for the progressive development of Russian-Tajik relations in all key areas. –0–
