TEHRAN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that Tehran's nuclear issue can only be resolved through negotiations.
"There is no solution other than a negotiated solution," he wrote on the social media site X in response to US President Donald Trump's warning on Sunday that Washington "will have to take care of this" if Iran resumes its nuclear program.
According to A. Araghchi, there is no evidence to support D. Trump’s statements about Iran acquiring nuclear weapons “within a month.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister recalled that, ahead of the fifth round of nuclear talks with US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff, he wrote on social media: "Zero nuclear weapons = we have a deal. Zero enrichment = we have no deal."
According to him, if the Trump administration looked at the minutes of those negotiations, it would "see how close we were to concluding a new, historic agreement on the Iranian nuclear program." A repeat of the "miscalculation" regarding Iran and its nuclear program will solve nothing, A. Araghchi emphasized.
