Starting October 11, a new electric bus route, No. 232, will begin operating in Moscow. It will connect the Terekhovo metro station and the Davydkovo ground transportation terminal. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Twelve modern, new-generation KAMAZ-52222 electric buses will operate route #232. These eco-friendly buses will recharge at the Mnevniki terminal station. Residents of the Kuntsevo district will receive additional connections to the Big Circle Line metro and sports facilities.

"Following Sergei Sobyanin's instructions, we are adjusting the ground transportation route network to make passenger travel even more comfortable. Starting October 11, we will improve bus and electric bus service in four districts of the capital. This will create new direct connections between important transport and social facilities," noted Maxim Liksutov.

A stop called "Orshanskaya Street" will be added for six bus routes in the Kuntsevo district. Passengers on the night route H14 will be dropped off closer to Exit 1 of the Molodezhnaya metro station. The stops near the Timiryazevskaya metro station will also change, and a new stop called "Sudostroitelnaya Street, 21" will be added on Klenovy Boulevard.

Moscow continues to develop its ground transportation network. New routes are being introduced, existing ones are being adjusted, and new stops are being added. This allows transit to operate along more popular streets and reach important public facilities and rail stations closer.

The city continues to develop its ground transportation network. Last year alone, 140 bus and electric bus routes were adjusted, increasing their frequency and increasing service along more popular routes. Fifteen new routes were launched, linking residential areas with rail stations, improving accessibility to over 30 residential complexes. Additionally, 110 new stops were added at key facilities, including clinics, schools, train stations, and metro stations. Thirty-three dedicated lanes, totaling over 30 kilometers, were established, providing service to buses and electric buses on over 200 routes.

Advantages of electric buses

Today, modern Russian-made KAMAZ-52222 A5-generation electric buses are hitting the capital's roads. Under contracts with KAMAZ PJSC, 1,100 of these buses are planned for delivery between 2025 and 2027, of which over 200 have already been assembled at the SVARZ plant in Moscow.

With new equipment deliveries and the development of charging infrastructure, even more electric bus routes will appear in the city. Currently, over 2,500 vehicles are serving them.

Replacing one bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 60 tons per year. For passenger comfort, the vehicles are equipped with USB ports for charging phones, media screens with information about upcoming stops, climate control, electric heaters, and door-opening buttons. They also feature driver-call buttons, a folding ramp, and special seats for passengers with limited mobility, as well as a storage area for strollers and bicycles, and digital validators near the doors for convenient fare payment.

The new generation of transport features increased cabin space, with the middle and rear doors opening outward. Green and red door lighting indicates the start and end of boarding. The air conditioning system has become even more efficient, ensuring a comfortable journey. Additionally, dedicated carry-on storage areas have been created in the front of the cabin, and the storage areas for bicycles and strollers have been expanded by 15 percent. The new exterior design is in line with contemporary global design trends.
