BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) — According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, since the construction of the China-SCO Demonstration Zone began in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, on June 10, 2018, the number of China-Europe trains departing from or arriving in the zone reached 4,814 as of August 31 this year, with an average annual growth rate of 33 percent. A total of 395,000 TEUs of import and export cargo were transported, with the total weight of these cargoes exceeding 3.31 million tons.
Currently, 22 regular international railway freight transport routes pass through the China-SCO Demonstration Zone, connecting 54 cities in 23 countries, including SCO member states and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Jiaozhou Customs, under the jurisdiction of Qingdao Customs, has established a special service for China-Europe train customs clearance procedures, including declaration, inspection and release, to ensure the rapid customs clearance of China-Europe trains.
