More than 190,000 electricity meters have been replaced free of charge in Moscow apartment buildings since the beginning of the year, according to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Urban Development. Petr Biryukov.
"We are continuing the centralized replacement of electricity meters in residential buildings. This year, we will update over 300,000 meters, of which over 190,000 have already been installed. The work is free of charge, as Mosenergosbyt assumed responsibility for organizing electricity metering in apartment buildings as of July 1, 2020," noted Pyotr Biryukov.
Specialists dismantle old meters that have failed or whose verification period has expired, and install new multi-tariff meters. These meters have a service life of 30 years.
Additionally, the new meters will be equipped with equipment that will allow them to be connected to a smart electricity metering system in the future. Residents will not need to submit energy consumption data; this will be done automatically.
The date of electricity meter replacement work is announced in advance: information is posted on notice boards in entryways and near buildings.
The schedule can be found on the official website of Mosenergosbyt in the section "Free PU Replacement Schedule", in the company's client's personal account and mobile application.
