Tashkent, October 7 (Xinhua) — Uzbekistan intends to advance the development of infrastructure and human resources in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced on Monday by the presidential press service.

"On October 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the development of AI technologies in the country and their widespread implementation in the economy and social sphere," the statement read.

It is noted that the presentation discussed priority areas for the industry's development.

"$50 million has been allocated to implement artificial intelligence projects in the economy and social sphere. A package of 86 projects has been formed, covering healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, transportation, the environment, and the financial sector. In parallel, a supercomputer cluster is being created to provide the country with modern computing power for implementing AI-based solutions," the statement reads.

During the discussion, it was noted that special attention should be paid to the creation of modern data processing centers and the creation of favorable conditions for investors interested in investing in the development of AI infrastructure.

The issue of training qualified personnel—a key factor in the industry's successful development—was addressed separately. It was emphasized that this work must begin with schools, improving the qualifications of computer science teachers, updating curricula, and developing next-generation textbooks.
